Which ranges are published, and what do they cover?
Save The Day Restoration describes a commercial LA/Orange County example of $1,500–$5,000 for minor one-room clean-water damage and an initial service minimum of $500–$1,500. HomeAdvisor lists national water-category bands: clean $3–$4, gray $4–$6.50 and highly contaminated $7–$7.50 per square foot. These are different source examples, not Fullerton averages or guaranteed offers.
How does the calculator create a planning range?
Enter an affected floor area you already know, from 10 to 5,000 square feet. Never enter a damaged area to measure it. Choose a provisional band: clean $3–$4, gray $4–$6.50, high-contamination $7–$7.50, or unknown $3–$7.50 per square foot. Calculate the lower end as max(area × lower rate, $500) and the upper end as max(area × upper rate, $1,500), then add the optional repair amounts to both unrounded bases and round the final lower total down and final upper total up to the nearest $100. The category is not a homeowner diagnosis.
Which repair options can change the number?
HomeAdvisor lists ceiling repair at $450–$1,600 and drywall at $300–$850. The Save The Day regional guide separately lists carpet removal $2–$4 and replacement $4–$12 per square foot, or hardwood removal $4–$8 and replacement $8–$20 or more. In this model that becomes carpet $6–$16 and hardwood $12–$28 or more. Carpet and hardwood areas must not overlap or exceed the entered floor area. Check any contractor quote for work already included.

No input here establishes actual water classification, drying duration, plumbing cost, mold work, coverage or availability. Ask for a written scope and compare the estimate guide.
