What needs its own line?
Ask the provider to identify inspection findings, extraction and drying, removal or disposal, replacement materials and finishing work where applicable. A plumbing or roof source repair may require another trade. The estimate should say which parts it includes and which it does not.
How can double-counting be spotted?
HomeAdvisor’s published per-square-foot bands describe restoration by water category. Save The Day’s commercial regional guide separates removal from replacement for carpet and hardwood. If a quote includes an all-in drying line plus the same material removal again, ask the contractor to explain the boundaries rather than simply adding the published ranges.
Which numbers are illustrative only?
The calculator uses source-derived bands and an initial floor; it knows neither the water classification nor your property. HomeAdvisor’s national ceiling and drywall examples are not Fullerton bids. The written quote from an independent provider is the place for actual quantities and proposed work.
Who checks qualifications and insurance?
Use the CSLB license lookup and ask the provider to confirm applicable insurance. Ask your own insurer to explain policy treatment separately; this website does not make either decision.
Calls go to voicemail, not a live provider. Messages are recorded and transcribed after the greeting. You can email us instead.
